Artist 2010 Istanbul: Triny Prada & Ismaïl Bahri
30 October – 7 November 2010, ARTIST 2010, Istanbul
Lowave participated in the twentieth edition of the Artist 2010, a historic contemporary Art fair in Istanbul. On this occassion, presented a selection of video art and experimental cinema by two of our artists: Ismail Bahri and Triny Prada.
As part of this fair, Ismail Bahri displayed his videos Résonances (2008) – featured on the Resistance(s) III DVD – and Orientations (2010) – featured on the Human Frames – Mono no aware DVD –, as well as the series Écumes (2008-09) comprising of organic designs which are traces produced by the interlacing of bubbles of milk, and the series of photographs Blood ink (2009), working with black ink which appear on the skin as traces of time in small networks of holes and wrinkles.
The Colombian artist Triny Prada, author of the DVD Food for Thought, was also present to showcase three video works: Style (2009), The War_tching Machine (2009) and Genius and Madness (2010). As part of her work with thread, the artist uses media as the creator of the social bond, seeping into the stories of people, cultures and populations. A selection of twenty-six pieces of thread designs, Thread Drawings, was shown, collecting portraits of Turkish and international personalities and depicting police violence.
Lowave also offered our curatorial work to be seen at a screening room (black box), which hosted programs Resistance(s) I, II, III (film / video art avant-garde of the Maghreb and Middle East) and Conditioned, a programme of video art from Turkey that explores the intellectual formation and development of children to adolescents in contemporary Turkish society. Finally, the fifty editions of Lowave DVD was available at the booth in the presence of Silke Schmickl and Stéphane Gérard, throughout the duration of the fair.

Lowave Exhibitions
Lowave has curated and produced exhibitions since 2008. Often inspired by our research projects and publications, these projects have been realised in close collaboration with international exhibition spaces. Some, such as Resistance[s] at the 3rd Triennial of Guangzhou, responded to invitations from major art events, others, more intimate, paid tribute to Lowave's unique art identity.
