Laila Hotait
*1980. Lives and works in Madrid, Spain and Beirut, Lebanon.
Laila Hotait, holds a Bachelor in Arabic and Islamic Studies. As a Fulbright scholar she studied cinema, directing and script writing at the San Francisco State University and is a PhD candidate at the Audiovisual communication department, Universidad Carlos III, Madrid, Spain. She also works as a curator and co-founded the artist platform, Laaventura, with her sister Nadia.

Occupation is an audio piece on people’s – specifically women’s – resilience, resistance and intimacy. The spoken word is also presented as a visual textual element in front of a black screen and develops a dramatic tension in the course of the video.
